I’m pleased to advise that as of Monday, the greens at the Polegrove will be available for play at the following times:

  • Monday to Saturday: 10am to 8pm
  • Sunday: 2pm to 8pm

For the time being, all other conditions of use will remain as they have been including just one rink per green being available for triples.  The increased hours available for play across all 4 greens should provide plenty of opportunity this, but we are open to reviewing this in the coming weeks if you consider that demand exceeds availability

If you could continue to contact Ray during his working hours to make bookings that would be appreciated.

Signage will be updated next week, but if you could pass this update on to your members in the meantime that would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Dear all

Thank you to those of you who have this morning written to me about the latest update from Bowls England and the government’s ‘Coronavirus (COVID-19): guidance on the phased return of sport and recreation’ published yesterday.

Please could I reiterate that whilst we will be reviewing this newly published guidance, my e-mail sent earlier in the week still applies.  Until further notice, use of the bowls greens under the council’s management remains subject to the conditions of use previously circulated and displayed at the bowls facilities.  In particular, I would like to reiterate that social distancing guidelines must continue to be adhered to.  A distance of 2m between people from different households continues to apply.  Under the agreed conditions of use i.e. using alternate rinks and limited formats of play, there is no reason for the 2m to be compromised.  The 1m plus mitigations (such as face coverings or avoiding face-to-face contact) should not be adopted at any of the bowls greens under the council’s management at this time.

I would be grateful if you could acknowledge the above and confirm that your members will be notified ahead of 4th July.

Many thanks for your continued cooperation.

Dear all
You’ll all be aware that there’s to be an easing of Covid-19 restrictions from 4th July and that Bowls England has issued some guidance on the re-opening of club bars and restaurants. It’s likely that Bowls England will also issue more updated guidance in the coming days. However, please note that until further notice, the conditions of use agreed with your clubs and the risk assessments that have been put in place will continue to be the basis on which the council’s bowls greens are operated. Pavilions will remain off-limits.
We will be reviewing the situation in due course and will keep you updated with any proposed changes. In the meantime, we would welcome any feedback on your experience about how the current system is working out and any changes you would like us to consider.
Kind regards
Rebecca Owen
